Teaser Title Sequence

Pain of Death Teaser Logo from Joshua French on Vimeo.

I put this title sequence together as a sort of teaser or concept for the Pain of Death project. It is probably not going to be used in the actual project. Feel free to post comments with your thoughts on how it could be improved.

I should also mention that this film is certainly not going to be a horror film. If this video gives that impression please let me know.

  1. When one of the first things you see in the sequence is blood, it gives that bloody-gory-yucky-violent feel.

So yeah, it seems a little over the top for what you're trying to get across. Just my thoughts.

  2. That was basically what I was thinking but I was curious about what other people thought so I decided to post it anyways. Thanks for the input.

  3. OH YEAH! I definitely like it! For me, it gives me the feeling that this is going to be one EXCITING film! However, I'm weird, so I guess all that doesn't count for much. :)

  4. Don't get your hopes up too high! I haven't even finished the script...

  5. Would anyone be interested in seeing a video that explains how this was made?

  6. Are you planning on entering the next SAICFF? I'd love to see a video on how you made the logo above.

Oh- and two my ideas are 1) Maybe keep the font all the same color... and 2) I agree with Benjamin Dawson.

    Good work!

  7. Yes, I am hoping to enter the film into the SAICFF.

We didn't by any chance meet at the last one, did we?

  8. Thanks for all the comments. Due to my current schedule I'm not sure if I will be able to make a "behind the scenes" video anymore. I hope nobody had their heart set on that ;) I will try to make a blog post about it.

  9. @ Jeffrey French- No, I found you blog through College Plus. Many of our friends were at the festival though. Lord willing our family wants to go next year. :)

  10. Ah yes! CollegePlus! Great resource that.

As for the festival, I would highly recommend it. I'm already hopping to be able to go next time!

  11. I would say that the teaser would work if I saw that general idea in a movie theater. It didn't feel like a horror movie intro to me, and it wasn't over the top. If the blood was gushing or splattering the screen, then it would start to have a more slasher feel, and that wouldn't fit.
One thing to possibly use when developing this teaser idea:
instead of just having blood randomly appearing at the top of the wall (I didn't see anything that it would be coming from), have it scroll up the wall as it did, then have in the background a body on the ground with a man standing over it with a gun. The title would be in the foreground. Something like that would be more visually engaging, and it would give more of the feel of the movie, with the guy who hunts people down getting introduced. As it is, it gets the title out there, and the idea that it involves death, but nothing more.
    Just a thought.
It will be interesting to see how this goes!

  12. Thanks for the tips! I'll have to mention those to Josh.

Btw, where did you hear about a guy who hunts people down? There's no such character in the current draft, and I don't remember ever having one...

  13. He means the guy who hunts the Christians.

    From your synopsis.
