Over the past couple of weeks we've been working on the costume design for Pain of Death. I've been collaborating with Leila Clemons, a costume designer from Tennessee, and we're quite pleased with how the designs have turned out.
The costume design process is really quite simple. Leila and I met via Skype (an invaluable resource for indy filmmakers) to discuss the characters and their costumes. She then drafted up some concept designs for the costumes, which we discussed and semi-finalized. Once casting is complete we will meet one more time to finalize the costumes.
While we could have made all of the costumes ourselves, we decided that, with the exception of some key costumes, we will try to use clothes that we and/or the actors already have. This will enable us to use our limited budget for other aspects of the film, like props and locations.
